Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings.
For flat ceilings, your installer will build a shaft or light well using drywall to connect your skylight from the roof through the attic space to the room below. Shafts can take a variety of shapes and sizes, which will affect the way daylight is delivered to the room. For vaulted ceilings, your installer will not need to build a light shaft, but will complete a small amount of interior drywall work in your ceiling.
Your installer will recommend the appropriate size and number of skylights needed to provide adequate task lighting throughout the day. Our installer network brings so much expertise to the job that we like to call them daylight engineers.

"FRESH AIR" MANUAL SKYLIGHTS
Opens with a hand lever. Control rod available for out-of-reach installations.
SMALL SPACES, BIG IMPACT
If you don't want a sky view or have a small space that needs natural light, choose a fixed skylight or a SUN TUNNEL™ skylight.
An economical choice for visually expanding areas such as hallways, stairwells, and other closed-in, dark spaces to create a spacious home that is filled with natural light.
LOW PROFILE, FLAT GLASS SUN TUNNEL™ SKYLIGHTS
Low profile and flat glass models have a sleek appearance for an integrated look with your roofline.
PITCHED SUN TUNNEL™ SKYLIGHTS
Pitched flashing optimal for capturing light from all angles.
FINDING THE RIGHT SKYLIGHT
VELUX "Fresh Air" and fixed skylights come in both deck mounted and curb mounted styles. Your skylight installer is the best person to decide which style works for your home.
The skylight’s deck seal is nailed directly to your roof deck for a low profile, energy-efficient installation. Deck mounted skylights are best for roofs with a pitch between 14 and 85 degrees.
Refers to a curb the installer builds on your roof. The skylight is installed on this curb the same way it would be to your roof deck. Curb mounted skylights are best for roofs with a pitch between 0 and 60 degrees.
ENERGY EFFICIENT GLASS THAT’S CLEAN, QUIET AND SAFE
VELUX skylights come standard with energy-efficient, LoE3, Argon-gas-injected, dual-pane glazing that helps keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Neat® glass coating keeps your skylights clean and clear, so all you see is beautiful daylight. Silicon dioxide makes Neat® glass exceptionally smooth, so water disperses evenly, “sheets off” and evaporates quickly, greatly reducing water spotting.
Titanium dioxide reacts chemically with the sun’s UV rays, causing organic materials that are on the glass to decompose. It works even on cloudy days, as 80% of UV radiation gets through cloud cover. Rain rinses away the decomposed dirt, leaving the glass almost spotless.
